What is the difference between a refrigerated and non-refrigerated drinking fountain?

A refrigerated fountain uses a built-in or remote chiller to cool water below ambient temperature. A non-refrigerated unit dispenses water at whatever temperature it enters the building, with no chiller or compressor to maintain.

How many GPH (gallons per hour) chiller capacity do I need?

Most single fountains use an 8 GPH chiller, which comfortably serves normal office or school foot traffic. Higher-traffic sites such as gyms or cafeterias may need a higher-capacity or remote chiller to keep up with demand.

Can a refrigerated drinking fountain also have a bottle filler?

Yes. Several models in this collection combine a chilled bottle filler with a standard bubbler on the same unit, so you get filtered, chilled refill water and a drinking fountain in one footprint.

Do refrigerated fountains need more maintenance than non-refrigerated ones?

Yes, slightly. The chiller adds a compressor and refrigerant line that non-refrigerated units don't have, so there's one more component that can eventually need service. Filters, if installed, need replacement on both types regardless of chiller.

Are remote chillers better than built-in chillers?

A remote chiller sits away from the fountain and can serve multiple fixtures at once, which is common in larger buildings. A built-in chiller is self-contained in the fountain itself, simpler to install for a single unit.
